Waterboarding and Bull Goring and Violin… Oh My!

Today was awesome…another one for the record books, in my humble opinion.  N faced a big source of fear and anxiety, E schooled us on lifestyle choices and I was only 25 minutes late to both homeschool groups today!  Yeah!  Also worthy of note:  I didn’t wet my pants in traffic on the way to Evanston.  That’s good for at least a silver star on the calendar, yes? Be Sure to Have Clean Underwear

We’re trying to get our stuff together to visit family for Easter.  I’d like to be out of here in the next hour or so, and it looks like we may *just* reach that goal.  N and I are very relaxed today and just taking the day as it comes.  In his case, the day comes with a hefty dose of Sonic Chronicles on DS. Wirelessless

I had the uncomfortable misfortune to be without wireless connectivity this week for a couple of days.  It was awful.  I feel the need to blog about it in great detail so no one is left with the mistaken impression that it was like “a breath of fresh air” or that we are better people because of it.  I found myself itchy and tense, more so than my usual psoriasis and chronic stress would account for. Too Cool For School

Today was the first day of the 2010 InHome Conference, our local homeschooling conference in St. Charles, IL.  Jeff took the day off work to chaperone N and E, and the boys enjoyed an Art Extravaganza, Magic Show, live animal “critter corner” and an awesome Physics show.  E had security notified of his presence before we even had a chance to digest our lunch!  I’m sure this doesn’t come as much of a shocker to anyone. Inspiration Strikes!

I was reading someone’s blog a couple of weeks ago and have been thinking about ripping off her idea. This blogger set a challenge for herself to blog every single day until her 40th birthday, which for her was less than a year. I’ll be 36 in July (I had to ask Jeff how old I am–sad), so that’s too many years of committment. Therefore… (drumroll, please) Read the rest of this entry »

“He was a little sassy today.”

Before his beloved violin teacher could get much further, N jumped in with his thoughts on the matter.

“There are four reasons I was grumpy today.   1) I didn’t get my full time at MRU (homeschool group).   2) I am thirsty.  3) I am hungry.  4) I didn’t get enough sleep last night.  Oh, and number 5 is that my thumb felt weird which distracted me and I made mistakes.”

I am shocked he didn’t say something about how we make him sleep in the backyard and hunt for his own food.  I’m not sure why his thumb felt weird, though he did complain about it for hours after hitchhiking home from violin.
