Math for Families with Short Attention Spans

E says he doesn’t ever want to go to school.  In his opinion, this means he will not have to learn anything, ever.  He is absolutely addicted to math videos from the library.  Every time we go, he must check the shelves for new math videos.  He’s four, so that’s cool.  Maybe when he’s five I’ll let him know how much he’s learning…or maybe I’ll wait until he’s six and has moved on to Teaching Company stuff. Back in the Blogging Saddle

I think I pretty much left my “four times a week” blog posting goal in its death throes several weeks ago.  When I checked in today I noticed a little bit of life around its blue tinged blog lips, so I will march on and hope for better consistency in the future. Read the rest of this entry »

Baseball, Sundaes and Advice from a Stranger

Day Two of the Little League experience!  Tomorrow is the first game and these boys are looking great!  E is enjoying the extra playground time, though today it wasn’t mobbed with kids like yesterday…  We ended the day with Colonial and sundaes.  Pictures follow… Read the rest of this entry »

Take Your Spawn to Work on Earth Day

Jeff’s company put together a cool program for “Take Your Child to Work Day” and not a single explosion or workplace fatality resulted while N was on the premises!  Yeah!  E and I played on a lot of playgrounds and enjoyed our Earth Day together…  Pictures and video follow! Waterboarding and Bull Goring and Violin… Oh My!

Today was awesome…another one for the record books, in my humble opinion.  N faced a big source of fear and anxiety, E schooled us on lifestyle choices and I was only 25 minutes late to both homeschool groups today!  Yeah!  Also worthy of note:  I didn’t wet my pants in traffic on the way to Evanston.  That’s good for at least a silver star on the calendar, yes? Be Sure to Have Clean Underwear

We’re trying to get our stuff together to visit family for Easter.  I’d like to be out of here in the next hour or so, and it looks like we may *just* reach that goal.  N and I are very relaxed today and just taking the day as it comes.  In his case, the day comes with a hefty dose of Sonic Chronicles on DS. “I Don’t Want to Be Your Buddy Anymore”

An arrow through the heart!  More on that later…after I mop up my tears and pull myself together. Read the rest of this entry »

He Says His Brother Is An Alien

N is doing an online Science Fair that he found out about from his online Physics teacher–and is having a blast!  It’s right up his alley of chatting about something he loves (science), making videos (of anything) and being online (famous).  One of his goals in life is, honestly, to be on America’s Funniest Home Videos.  This isn’t quite the same, but has real potential.  Today he blogged a little about it: Read the rest of this entry »
